John Nystrom
John formed Nystrom Electrical Contracting, Inc. in 1977 after serving his apprenticeship in the electrical industry and successfully completing the required exams. John has seen the firm grow from a one-employee company to our current staff of twenty. John also formed M & N Communications in 2002 in response to the ever increasing demand for data and voice cabling, and telephone and voice messaging systems. John currently serves as president of Nystrom Electrical Contracting, Inc.
Robert "Buddy" Cronin — Estimator/General Manager
Buddy has been with the firm since 1984 and is responsible for much of the success of the company. After spending
many years in the field providing supervision and journeyman electrician duties, he moved into the office to provide
estimating services. Buddy currently utilizes a state of the art program to provide our customers with quality, accurate
estimates. Buddy has also provided many years of service to the community as a volunteer fireman and city councilman.
Buddy enjoys spending time with his family.
Field Team:
Robert Haukaas — Lead Journeyman
Robert joined our firm in 1994. Robert works primarily on light commercial projects and excels at conduit work, control wiring, and commercial service work. Robert is currently our lead journeyman for field operations. When Robert gets away from work, he enjoys spending time hunting, fishing or golfing.
Shawn Hudson — Journeyman
Shawn joined our firm in 2002 as an apprentice electrician.
In 2004 Shawn took a break from the electrical field as he was deployed
in Iraq for about a year with the South Dakota National Guard. After returning, Shawn
advanced himself and became a job foreman, running mainly small commercial projects. Shawn
was again deployed overseas to Afghanistan from 2009 to 2010. Shawn is very
conscious of the customer's needs. We are proud of Shawn's service
to our Country and his dedication to the company.
Troy Roberts — Journeyman
Troy worked for us from 1998 to 2001 and returned in 2002. Troy specializes in new residential construction
and enjoys working with our customers to make building their new home a pleasant experience. Troy enjoys spending time with his wife Misty, their
two daughters and their new baby boy. Troy is an instructor for motorcycle safety class and is also a member of the local Harley Owners Group.
Jeff Johnson — Journeyman
Jeff joined our firm in November of 2007 after moving to the Pierre area. Jeff works primarily on small commercial and residential projects. His hobbies include hunting and spending time with his daughter.
Gary Schmitgen — Master Electrician
Gary came out of retirement in 2008 to join our firm as our service specialist. Gary works with our customers on a daily basis and enjoys helping them with all their electrical/service needs. Gary has been in the electrical industry for over 42 years. He is also a United States Navy Veteran and has been married for over 41 years. Gary has two children and three grandchildren. In his spare time, Gary enjoys motorcycling, hunting and fishing.
Shaun Cronin — Apprentice
Shaun worked for us from 2001 to 2004. He returned after 6 years during the summer of 2010. Shaun works with the other electricians on all types of projects, helping wherever he is needed. When Shaun is not hard at work, he is spending time with his new baby boy and financè.
Terry Fauth — Apprentice
Terry joined our firm in July of 2008. Terry also works on various commercial and residential projects. Terry enjoys many different outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing and golf and he also enjoys spending time with his wife Sherri.
Randy Schumacher — Shop Manager
Randy joined our firm in June of 2008. He was a manager of retail operations for over 18 years before accepting his current position. Randy coordinates our shop and assists our electricians with their projects. He also works closely with the area electrical utilities to offer our customers the latest in energy efficient lighting along with any incentives available to the customer. Randy's hobbies include fishing, golfing and spending time with his three children.
Office Team:
Deann Nystrom
Deann has been a team member since 1994. Deann is our business manager and she also does the accounting for the company. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband John and their children.
Pauline Paul
Pauline has been a team member since 2004. Pauline handles many of the day to day tasks for the company such as payroll, job costing and accounts receivable. Pauline has been in the accounting field for over 30 years. She also devotes some of her spare time helping the Fort Pierre Fire Department. Pauline enjoys spending time with her husband Gordy, their children, and grandchildren.
Leigh Donnan
Leigh joined our team in the beginning of 2010. Leigh is our secretary. She also handles advertising, accounts payable/receivable, dictation, and receiving. Away from work, she enjoys spending her time with her son.
